Members of staff recently welcomed Trinidad’s new Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator Paula Gopee-Scoon to the Ministry’s Head Office.
Senator Gopee-Scoon addressed the Ministry’s staff members at the staff lounge during a brief welcome ceremony. In her address, Minister Gopee-Scoon expressed her pleasure for being given the opportunity to lead the Ministry.

The first order of business for the new Minister will be refining the relationship between the public and private sectors, noting that ‘the Ministry will be responsible for facilitating the marriage of the public and private sectors to achieve economic and social growth and the renewal of investor confidence in the economy’.

She called on staff to ‘perform and be professional in the execution of your duties‘.
Following the meeting with staff members, Minister Gopee-Scoon met with the Ministry’s Executive Management team to be appraised of the Ministry’s current programmes and initiatives.
