Digicel and Samsung joined forces earlier this year to bring the excitement of the Olympics to their customers across the Caribbean and Central America with a promotion that got customers caught up in the euphoria of the Games.
To kick off the promotion, customers entered the ‘’ Facebook competition which gave them a chance to be a part of a Digicel advertising campaign that incorporated user-generated content as the main element.
Close to 17,000 fans from across the globe visited Digicel’s Facebook page – uploading and posting photos showing their best ‘’ – in the hopes of being selected as one of the lucky winners to be featured in an advertising campaign with Usain Bolt or win cool prizes such as handsets courtesy of Digicel and Samsung.

At the end of the competition, over 500 fans got the chance to be in the groundbreaking advertising campaign in support of Usain Bolt on his ‘Run to London’. The campaign featured a press ad – a mosaic of Usain Bolt made up of the competition winner’s images – and a high-energy TV ad featuring 21 of the best images submitted.
The promotion – which started in July and continues until September – is also giving customers great deals on select Samsung handsets and tablets. These include the recently released 4G-capable Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone – on which customers are experiencing superfast data speeds on Digicel’s 4G Mobile network. In addition, customers across the region are winning great prizes such as Samsung 40” LCD TVs.

We couldn’t have asked for a better result for our customers as they celebrated last week’s historic one two three from the Jamaicans and earlier this week when took home Grenada’s first gold medal. It has been a great Olympics for Jamaica and the entire Caribbean region and it’s great when home-grown talent is celebrated at an international level…
He continues; “We support a number of Olympic athletes, teams and associations throughout the Caribbean such as Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and the Olympic Associations in Barbados, Bermuda, Grenada and Jamaica. The Digicel and Samsung promotion is a major success to date, with hundreds of thousands of customers supporting their hometown heroes leading up to the Olympics and watching them perform at Digicel’s viewing parties held across the region. As the promotion continues, customers can expect more deals and prizes.
